What are different types of house spiders?

Spiders, spiders, spiders. Six-legged, eight-eyed monstrous. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. While some of them are venomous and some aren’t, all of them are quite scary. People with Arachnophobia know exactly what we are talking about.

Plus, there has been a popular myth going around the internet related to spiders. It states that humans 8 spiders per year in their sleep. Thank God, its not true. Truth be told, spiders don’t bother humans in sleep for many reasons. Nevertheless, you and we alike want to get rid of red spiders or one of any other color, let’s say spiders in general.

However, that is something for later. In this Blog, we shall be discussing the spiders which are commonly found around the USA. Thus, lets get into it:

American house spider

American house spiders are quite a common pest found in houses across the United States. Being specific they are often seen in dark and concealed spaces across the house. Thus, you may find them under Cabinets, basements, garages, or even in windows. If you ever run across their web. You will notice that it is quite tangled or in other words quite messy.

Moreover, they are commonly found in places where flies are in abundance. The reason being that flies are one of the major targets of spiders. And if you are wondering if this spider can’t bite you or harm you in any other way. the answer to this is only psychological, apart from that it is harmless.

Moving on, as the name suggests these spiders are on the smaller side of the spectrum. Lets says they are as large as a nickel. Another distinguishing feature is their round abdominal area. In addition to being grey, they also have white marks on their body.

Wolf spider

Wolf spider is not a species but a term that is used to denote a group of species. As such, there are over 200 different kinds of wolf spiders native to the United States of America. Plus, they come in different sizes, varying with species. The biggest wolf spider you will ever see is an inch and a half long at most.

In addition to this, they also come in different colors, for instance, gray, black, or brown. However, something that remains constant throughout their different species, is the fact that these spiders are hairy.

Moreover, this is a type of spider that doesn’t use a web to catch prey like the majority of other of its kind. Rather it hunts them down. For the same reason, they are mostly found near other insects and pets. You will see the most in basements, sheds, around debris, cinderblocks, and garages. And no, they don’t harm humans.

They are shy to humans.

Black widow

The famous, or shall we say infamous “Black Widow”. The names come from its shiny black coat. This species is known for its mark on its under abdomen which looks like a red hourglass. Plus, they also have red marks going up against their back.

But this is not the only thing they are known for. Black Window is infamous for its venom.  This is one of the specific few spiders that can be seriously dangerous for human beings. There are over 2000 bite incident reports each year, related to this spider.

But to our relief, there hasn’t been any death related to the black window since 1983 in the United States of America. But let’s say you don’t want to be on the receiving end of the bite even if it wont kill you. because it is not a pleasurable experience.

To give you an idea, lets see what happens when one bites you. First and foremost, the thing is intense pain, with this comes vomiting, muscle stiffness, and even possible nausea. If any incident of bite occurs, go to Emergency Room as soon as possible.

Brown recluse

After Black Widow comes the Brown Recluse. As the name tells you, this spider is brown. Plus, it has somewhat Violin-like marks on top of its head as well as back. In addition to this, Brown Recluse has 6 eyes in contrast to 8 eyes, as seen in the majority of other spiders.

Let us tell you, Brown Recluse is not a force to reckoned with.  The reason being it is one of the most dangerous spiders you can come across. And on a serious note, you don’t want this spider to bite you. This spider can cause a necrotizing wound. In simpler words, it means that all the cells, as well as the tissue around the wound, die. Reading about this one is enough to make you want to get rid of red spiders or brown ones, isn’t it?

Therefore, if you are bitten by a Brown Recluse. It is recommended that you see a doctor As Soon As Possible. To our relief, this spider usually likes to like in undisturbed corners of the house. However, on many occasions, they hide inside sheets and towels. So, when disturbed they gift you with a bite.

Daddy long legs

Last on the list is Daddy long legs. Odd name agreed but it fits perfectly to its physical description. And chances are you are already quite familiar with this spider. Nevertheless, daddy long legs has just one round body which is attached to very long and very thin legs. It makes it look almost cartoonish.

Moreover, this spider is pretty harmless. Regardless of the rumors, you have heard on the internet, daddy long legs isn’t a spider that can harm human beings. They don’t even have glands or organs needed to create venom. So, you got nothing to worry about there.

However, in case they were venomous, it’s still won’t be a problem. Reason being that they live outside houses. Unlike the former mentioned on the list. Closest they ever get to humans is where you are outside your door because they sometimes hide under sidings or around the deck. Usually, they are more of garden spiders or tree spiders.
