Dust mites are one of the most common pests, not just in the USA, but around the world. You might not realize it but they are quite closely related to spiders and ticks. This makes them even more scared.

As far as looks are concerned, they look quite similar to spider mites or chiggers. But they are quite smaller in size. So small that you can’t see them with your naked eyes. This is the reason why they are so problematic.

Moreover, these pests can be found in almost every corner of your house. but they are especially prominent in places like couches, chairs, bedding, mattresses, stuffed toys, and clothing.

Now, answer the main question, what attracts them. well, they are dust mites, so they are attracted to the dirt in your house. but this isn’t the dirt you are thinking about.

You see, dirt in our houses has mainly consisted of dead human cells. And Dust mites eat these dead cells. This is the reason why they mainly infest places you spend most of your time at.

The reaction might include (but is not limited to) sneezing, itching, watery eyes, wheezing, headaches, fatigue, and depression. Red rashes can also be developed, though it is quite rare.

In some cases, they can cause serious respiratory diseases like asthma. This is the reason why most people want to get rid of dust mites ASAP.

With this being said, we shall be looking at Three common methods used for dust mites’ removal in the next section of the blog.

Three Methods to getting Rid of Dust Mites

Now, that you know what dust mites are, what attracts them, and what are the problems caused by them. Its time to discuss various methods which can be used to get rid of them.

Therefore, in this section of the blog, we shall be looking at the Three methods which you can use to get rid of these pests. all of these methods are selected in such a way that you don’t need to work extra hard or spend a lot of money.

With this said, lets see what these methods are:

Lower Humidity

As we already mentioned, dust mites live and feed on the “dust” consisting of dead skin cells. Plus, something you don’t know is that one human shed enough skin to feed up to a million of these pests. since we can’t stop shedding our skin, we have to resort to other methods.

One such method is to lower the temperature and humidity. This is to do with the fact that these creators can’t drink water like another being. they absorb moisture in the air. This is why they flourish in places with high humidity.

So, one easy way to get rid of dust mites is to lower the humidity level. You can use a dehumidifier or just leave your bed unmade. Yes, you read that right. Keeping your bed unmade, will keep the humidity low.

Extreme Temperatures

Dust mites need an ideal temperature to survive. Do you know what else this means? It means that they can’t survive extreme Temperature.

Dust mites will die in extremely high and low temperatures. While you can’t freeze or burn your house, there is something that you can do.

For instance, you can take washable items and wash them in hot water. This will do the trick and kill dust mites as well as their eggs.

Moving on, you can also take the small items and put them in freezers. This wont work with your mattress but you can at least free the sheets. But be sure to put them in a plastic bag first. Because you don’t want dust mites running around your fridge. How gross would that be?

Wipe Down Dusty Areas

Since dust mites are attracted to dust, the easiest way to get rid of them is to wipe away that dust. Take a wipe, and get to work.

While its best if you do it daily, you should at least dust your house every other day. Doing this will greatly discourage dust mite infestation. and if there are no dust mites in your house you won’t need dust mites’ removal service.

You can also use a vacuum cleaner which is quite effective.  This too will suck all of those tiny eggs. And prevent further infestation. you can also use any other form of cleaning, that helps you rid of dirt.
